Hobby master and Corgi have done them in 1/72 and they have proven to have a good long sales run. The A-1 Skyraider would go a long way.
Lot's of different paint jobs to be had.
One that always has my head shaking is the Rufe. The Zero is already out there. A fin mod under the tail, even something that we could install when assembling.
Heck they just have to add the floats for us to install on assembley, snap in place and bingo one new Rufe.
I can't figure it out. thats why I read this bolg to see what the Zen Master Rob has to say. I do have to agree with JJ in that something new would have done much better than recycling old offerings. Many of us collectors have the bulk of the 1/32 units and something new would be a real shot in the arm. I keep saying this but having Vietnam Nam War era 1/32 jet aircraft with numerous squadron paint schemes seems to make more sense than bringing back stuff we already have. I know that it would mean new moldings but how many multiples of the same 109's, P-51's, 190's, P-40's, P-47's, F4U's etc do they expect us to purchase to prove that the market is viable? The F-14 and now the Dauntless has shown that the new higher price points can work if the product is new and produced right. We even bought the 1st batch of 1/18 F-14's with the skin disease!

JackJohn comments on 1:32 Aircraft on Special Now!

Rob
I allready have 2 of the 1/32 FW-190 red 13 so I couldn't help you out with that one. But I did infact take 2 of the
1/32 Shangri La P-51 B Mustang's from you and thats about all that I can do for now. It's a shame that they are slow movers. I hope that Algo will come out with some new offerings down the road. Look at how the sales of the 1/18
SBD are moving, again a "New" tooling alot more costly than the 1/32 planes but sales sound like they are good.
I just wish that someone would tap into the 1/32 twin and multi engine bomber market. I think you would see a big jump in sales. Even in todays economy. If this hobby is going to continue, new things have to be made to keep collectors interested. Is Merit considering more than just WWII subjects for their 1/18 aircraft series? Dare I ask if collectors will get to see 1/18 jets they've been hoping for like an F-4 and A-10? Looking at what Merit is doing with the detail level of their Dauntless and given that the production pieces turn out just as good, I think anything they touch will be a success even with a higher price tag. With their experience in the 1/18 market, I would doubt we see the QC issues that have plagued other subjects from other manufacturers.

Neil M comments on Merit 1:18 SBD Dauntless Notes and Updates

Looks like this could be an exceptional model - especially with all the moving features! Everything from the bottom of the Mae West will have to go! Poor guy.
The rest of this plane looks great! All those working features sound great too.
Rob,
I don't care if the industry only produces one or two planes a year, So Long as they are NEW Toolings. That would be great.I can't figuer out why no one has tapped into the 1:32 WWII bomber market yet??? There are Plenty of planes from that era to go aruond. Some company could have a Good Long run on that. JJ
